I found this game the same way I’ve found several “b-games,” (a term used by Foddy himself in Getting Over It’s intermittent narration) by watching someone online get furious while playing it. It’s the same sense of wonderful torture that keeps carnival games afloat, that keeps people playing games for years and years, and that draws people to games like Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. They’ll be the stuff of legends, the top of their class, the end-all-be-all of gaming for achieving an ultimately futile task. ![]() People line up to play them, hoping that they’ll be the special one who beats it.
